Signs of spring

No spring arrivals to report quite yet. Having said that many birds are in song now with the advent of brighter, longer days. The 3rd Winter Iceland Gull reappeared at the weekend after a long absence, still showing the suggestions of grey markings in the primaries, though very subtle.

Increasing numbers of Red-throated Diver off Cransdale with a brief count at around 30 birds on Sunday, and also Long-tailed ducks scattered liberally around including a few spectacular males.
No sign of the Ring-necked Duck on Meikle Loch for some weeks now.
